Who was Absalom? Absalom was one of the sons of David, a powerful and influential king of Israel in the Old Testament. Absalom was famous for his unusual and admirable beauty, as well as for his empathy and charm.

However, Absalom’s story was marked by two significant events: the vengeful murder of his half-brother Amnon and his subsequent conspiracy and rebellion against his own father, King David.

The name Absalom has Hebrew origin and means “my father is peace” or “peace of God”. However, peace was not evident in his biography.

He was the third son of King David with Maacah, daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur. There is no precise information about the year of Absalom’s birth, but scholars believe he was born a thousand years before Christ.
