Monday the 4th of September 2017 saw a new era begin for EL AL as the airline's new long haul type the Boeing 787-9 touched down at London Heathrow for the very first time.
This, the first of a new generation of airliners for the Israeli airline signals the beginning of the end of the airlines love affair with the Boeing 747.
The footage shows EL AL 747-200's at Heathrow in the late 1980's and early 1990's and includes the airline's Cargo version, also intermixed with the vintage footage is video from 2017 showing the 747-400 and aging Boeing 777-200ER.
It really is the end of an era.
