Описание к видео How to Identify Common Burdock; Arctium minus - Wild Edible and Medicinal Plant Identification

How to identify common burdock or Arctium minus. This plant is commonly found in fields and is a wild edible and a medicinal plant. The taproot it what is used the most however the leaves and seeds can also be used. Before using this wild plant it's important to know how to identify it. The leaves of common burdock are large, broad, and ovate with rippled margins. The leaves at the bottom will grow in a basal rosette that have very fine teeth running along the margins whereas at the top the margins are smooth and the leaves become much smaller, though maintaining their broad and ovate shape.
The flowers are pink to red and the plant flowers from July to October. The burs are usually found on boots and on dogs after they have been running through a field. These burs are also the seedpods, which hold medicinal uses as well. The stem of common burdock has a distinct groove running its length that gives it a celery like appearance. The stem also has distinct red striations running its length that helps to distinguish it from other plants.
The leaves can be confused with Rhubarb so be careful and learn how to identify this biennial. As a biennial it will shoot up a stem with flowers and seeds in its second year, whereas the first year of growth it only produces leaves.
