My thumb box was ordered by my dad. A local maker made it. He had no prior experience of making artists products. It is made out of teak wood. Very hard and heavy. I used linseed oil coating on it. Holds three 5X7 inch panels. I attached a latch and two D rings for a strap. It will last a lifetime! I can capture anything anywhere because of this because of its portability. This is for my classrom stuff, which is outdoors!
With the help of this I can capture the correct colors and perspective. Our brains can edit the unimportant things which is difficult to do by looking at a photograph. So, the importance of such a box cannot be overstated.
Brushes that I used are mostly the ones that either watercolor nylon sables or bristles that are not so good any longer. It might be useful to carry some small filberts and daggers as these are very effective.

The colors that I used are Titanium White, Chrome Yellow Hue, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Cobalt Blue and Ivory Black
