Sony Betamax front loading and lace-up magic. SL-T30ME.

The mechanism which drives the front loading carriage and also drives the lacing rings on Sony Betamax machines, is fascinating.
The pinch roller solenoid acts upon a set of planetary gears. It's like magic. Until it breaks down. Today we're working on a multistandard SL-T30, but the same mechanism is used in many Sony Betamax video recorders.
