Gathering of Staff & Students: The Celebration of Christmas at St Xavier's School Sahibganj began before the Staff and the Students had taken leave for winter vacation. Both the staff and the students started preparing for the Christmas almost a month ago. Celebration of Christmas, this year, was combined with Competitions-- competitions on Crib Making and Carol Singing which were participated both by the teachers and the students belonging to four Houses, namely Britto, Campion, Kostka and Loyola. Representing four Houses, the teachers alone took part in Carol Singing, whereas in Crib Making both the teachers as well as the students took part. On the 22nd of December, the last day of the school before winter vacation, both the teachers as well as the students gathered in the school auditorium for Christmas Celebration. After the blessing of Crib by Fr Melchi Tigga SJ, the Rector, there was a cake cutting ceremony which was followed by honouring of the three special guests who graced the occasion to judge Carol Singing Competition. The Nativity of Jesus was beautifully enacted on the stage by the students of catechism class. Singing, dancing and Musical Act with some Christmas messages were well presented by the students with the guidance of the teachers. The entry of Santa Claus was one of the most entertaining moments. Two teachers dressed themselves as Santa and entertained everyone thoroughly. After the Christmas Message delivered by Fr Hilary D'Souza SJ, the Principal, result of the Competitions was declared by Sr Gracy D'Souza DSH, the Vice-Principal. Campion House was declared Champion both in Crib making and Carol Singing. Christmas Cake was shared at the end.
