LOUD Murphy Traction Elevators at The Historic Brown Hotel, Louisville, KY

These are some very nice and relatively fast and efficient elevators in what is a very BEAUTIFUL and historical hotel. Built in 1923, the elevators here were originally installed by Otis and were Manually Controlled, then modded/automated in the 50s, 60s or 70s by Armor as suggested by the panel in the lobby, then modded again in the 90s with Innovation Universal according to Murphy's website with the most recent mod you see here with Innovation Premier fixtures being done in 2015. The previous mods were just automation, door and controller mods, the 1923 Otis machines were still in use until the 2015 mod.

The elevators seen here are very fast and very efficient just like every elevator I've seen installed by Murphy has been, they're relatively smooth and have absolutely BEAUTIFUL Handcarved Wooden Cabs with Mirrors that are likely original from the previous mod done to them. That said though, the modern fixtures do clash a bit with the historic feel of the building, and these are a bit noisy, however I'm assuming the noise these make is because the shafts weren't designed for the speed these travel and these were likely much slower originally, and previously they had Innovation Universal which also doesn't fit in with the History of the building, so I could care less if these were modded again. It would've been nice if the motors were original, but these definitely are pretty fast and efficient as you can see!

All in all, another absolutely Great Product by Murphy Elevator. At least they kept the panel in the lobby and the BEAUTIFUL Cabs the same! And like I said, very fast and efficient!

The Hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous and very historical and beautiful and is home to an AMAZING Restaurant which is home to the famous Hot Brown sandwich! The hotel is ridiculously expensive to stay at, although I highly recommend eating here and exploring the place when in Louisville!
