You can try to walk away, play a different game,
All to fill a soul grown cold and hollow,
Throw another smile, to bait me like a child,
Slip me another fake bitter pill to swallow,
I may not speak its name but I know it still the same,
Don't ask me why I'm still fool enough to follow,
I'm quiet like a fire, sleepwalking on the wire,
Slip, trip and fall into the pits I always wallow ;

It all comes undone,
Little rips in the tapestry and it's already begun,
Like scented love letters full of paper cuts,
With sweetest honey the strongest webs are spun ;

Beg on bended knee, angels come and rescue me,
Could you see me clear for one more favor to borrow,
Am I asking for too much, the comfort in a touch,
Reward my sincerity with a bitter kiss of sorrow,
You get used to the blame, you get used to the shame,
You wonder what fresh hell will find you tomorrow,
Self pity and cheap sympathy is the only guarantee,
You'll get fake company to help you stand against a promise so hollow ;

And still you run,
A knife in the back doesn't slow you down that much,
With the adrenaline rush,
You're moving too fast to realize how much damage was done ;

Every broken heart we can't let go,
Like the taste of all the bitter fruits we've sown,
Every word that cuts us down to the bone,
In all the lies we sling like poisoned arrows,
When all the trust and hope has faded,
We see the world through eyes burnt and jaded,
Run for cover but those tears keep raining,
Pouring the salt into all the scars that were created,

All the love and pain,
Cut the wounds that never drain,
With good intentions and mistakes,
Spending too much precious time
Trying to stop all the bleeding
And stitching them up in vain ;

There's just no way to compromise,
The truth is a roadmap you'll never disguise,
Across your face and the look in your eyes,
The obvious scars you could never deny,
It seems so pointless to question why,
The answers like shadows in a moonless night,
You enter the cradle such a beautiful child,
Look up from the grave so scarred and reviled,

This life...No matter how much you try,
All that's left at the end of the line
Are just the scars you could no longer hide :
