The king agreed. Work continued for 15 consecutive days in one room. The chisel noise was also heard outside while working. With that noise everyone knew that work was going on in the room. But the king thought that the sculptor had fallen asleep because of the noise for the next three days, and the king hurriedly opened the door to find out what was going on inside. Thus the Lord, who came in the form of a carpenter, became angry with the king for not fulfilling his vow. The statues were half-carved because there were still three days left. இந்திர தையுமா என்னும் அரசன் பூரியை ஆண்டு வந்தான். அவன் சிறந்த பக்தன். ஒருமுறை பெருமாள் அவன் கனவில் தோன்றி தனக்கு ஒரு கோயில் எழுப்புமாறு வேண்டினார். பூரி கடற்கரை பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ளது. கடலில் மிதந்து வரும் ஒரு பொருளைக் கொண்டு சிலையை செதுக்குமாறு பெருமாள் கூறினார். இதையடுத்து இந்திர தையுமா கடல்பகுதியில் தனது காவலர்களை நிறுத்தி வைத்தான். கடலில் ஏதாவது பொருள் மிதந்து வந்தால் அதை எடுத்துவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான். காவலர்கள் கடற்கரையில் காத்து நின்றனர். நான்கைந்து நாட்களுக்கு பிறகு ஒரு பெரிய மரக்கட்டை கடலில் மிதந்து வந்தது. அதை காவலர்கள் எடுத்துச் சென்று அரசனிடம் ஒப்படைத்தனர். அரசன் அந்த மரக்கட்டைக்கு பெரிய பூஜைகள் நடத்தி தச்சர்களை அழைத்து பெருமாள் சிலை செய்யும்படி கூறினார். தச்சர்களின் தலைவர் சிலை செய்வதற்காக அந்த மரத்தில் உளியை வைத்தவுடன் உளி உடைந்துவிட்டது. ஆரம்பத்திலேயே அபசகுணமாக இருந்ததால் அரசர் மிகவும் வருத்தமடைந்தார். அப்போது அவர் முன்பு பெருமாள் ஒரு முதிய தச்சனைப் போல வேடமணிந்து தோன்றினார். அரசனிடம் 21 நாட்களில் இந்த வேலையை முடித்து தருவதாகவும், அதுவரை தான் வேலைசெய்யும் அறையை யாரும் திறக்கக் கூடாது என்றும் கூறினார். அதற்கு அரசனும் ஒப்புக்கொண்டார். 15 நாட்கள் அந்த அறையின் உள்ளிருந்து உளிச்சத்தம் கேட்டது. எனவே அரசன் வேலை மும்முரமாக நடக்கிறது என எண்ணி அந்த அறைப்பக்கம் போகவில்லை. அதையடுத்து மூன்று நாட்கள் சத்தமே இல்லை. இதனால் தச்சர் தூங்கிவிட்டாரோ என எண்ணி, அரசன் அவசரப்பட்டு கதவைத் திறந்து விட்டான். உடனே தச்சர் கோபமடைந்தார். அவர் பெருமாளாக பெரு உருவம் எடுத்த மனிதனுக்கு பொறுமை வேண்டும். மூன்று நாட்கள் சத்தம் வரவில்லை என்றதும் எனது அறைக்கதவை திறந்துவிட்டாய். எனவே இந்தக் கோயிலில் நீ ஸ்தாபிக்கும் சிலைகள் அரைகுறையாகவே இருக்கும். அப்படி இருந்தாலும் பரவாயில்லை. அப்படியே பிரதிஷ்டை செய்துவிடு. இந்த கோயிலுக்கு வருபவர்கள் சிலையைப் பார்த்துவிட்டு பொறுமையை கடைபிடிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்துடன் செல்வார்கள் என்று அருள்பாலித்தார். அந்த அறையில் வேலை முடியாத நிலையில் ஜெகந்நாதர், பலராமன், சுபத்திரா ஆகியோரின் சிலைகள் இருந்தன. அந்த சிலைகளை அரசர் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்தார்.
