Описание к видео FLYING FOX ( Pteropus poliocephalus)

The Grey - Headed flying fox is a megabat native to Australia. It is the largest Bat in Australia. The flying fox has a dark-grey body with a light-grey head and a reddish-brown neck collar of fur. It is unique among bats of the genus Pteropus in that the fur on the legs extends all the way to the ankle. Adults have an average wing span up to 1m/ 3.3 feet and can weigh up to 1kg / 2.2 LB. It is tailless, with claws on on its first and second digits. It relies on sight to locate the food (nectar, pollen, and native fruits) and has relatively large eyes for a bat.
On evening walks the bats flight path is directly over where I reside in Melbourne. With the last three days of very HOT conditions, wildlife rescuers are trying to save thousands of flying foxes after hundreds of them are dropping from the trees either dead or dehydrated.Close to me , the population of Bats fling over my area are estimated at close to 35,000.
