One Healthcare Patient’s Struggle to be Heard | Morgan Gleason | TEDxBeaconStreetSalon

Описание к видео One Healthcare Patient’s Struggle to be Heard | Morgan Gleason | TEDxBeaconStreetSalon

As an 11-year-old diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Morgan’s experience with the healthcare system reminds us of subtle, yet powerful solutions we can adopt to enhance the patient experience. She highlights the importance of not mistaking patient treatment for patient experience and urges healthcare providers to be more impersonal in their interactions with patients. For Morgan, well-being is being able to do the things she enjoys, as opposed to checking off boxes on a standardized patient well-being questionnaire. Morgan Gleason is a senior at Auburn University. After being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease at age 11, Gleason began making YouTube videos that went viral. She now advocates for patients across the country and shares her journey by speaking at conferences and writing a blog. She plans to work in patient experience after she graduates in May 2020. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
