o This is a demonstration of how I modified the Safety Switch on my Black and Decker Cordless Trimmer/Edger 20v (LSTE525) in order to allow me to comfortably hold down the Switch without having to constantly keep my thumb directly on top of it when conducting yardwork.

o This demonstration shows how to properly and safely modify the trimmer without disabling the Safety Switch or any Safety Features while continuing to comfortably hold down the Safety Switch without keeping the thumb directly on top of it.

o This demonstration also contains a brief review of Black and Decker Cordless Trimmer/Edger 20v (LSTE525) and finds that:

Positive - That the trimmer is well designed, lightweight, powerful and efficient; safe and reliable; it has virtually no maintenance requirements especially when compared to gas power trimmers, and it’s very user friendly.

Critique – The safety feature is a good idea but the Safety Switch is small. As a result, simultaneously holding the small Safety Switch and the Trigger at the same time is somewhat cumbersome when doing yardwork.

o The materials and tools used for this demonstration are: 1 x 4½ in Galvanized Swivel Hasp, 2 x 14in Zip Ties, and 1x pair of Scissors.

o Warning: Don’t disable the Safety Switch which serves the purpose of keeping the operator and others safe from harm and accidents.
