Meet the mysterious nightjars of Haldon Forest Park

The European Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) is a nationally rare bird and one of the most important of the rare species that make their home at Haldon Forest Park, in Devon. Each summer, Haldon Forest Park becomes the breeding territory for 40-50 pairs of nightjar. That might not sound like many, but it’s around 1% of the UK’s entire breeding population!
