Welcome back, Educators.
We’re going to explore the AVG, FORMAT, MIN, MAX. And the Subquery method.
We’ve named the range to facilitate typing the formula.
To calculate the average price of the properties in each of these cities in the list.
Type =QUERY(
Select data.
To return the city name, type: SELECT G
To calculate the average, type: AVG(F)
We need to use the GROUP BY clause after the AVG function.
We group it by the city name.
Type 1 because we have one header.
Press Enter.
And here is it.
To facilitate reading the numbers, we add a custom number format to them.
Type FORMAT.
To identify the column, type AVG(F)
Type the number format surrounded by single quotation marks.
Press Enter.
And here is it.
To find out the highest and lowest property price in each city.
To find out the highest price, delete AVG.
Then type MAX.
Press Enter.
And here is it.
To find out the lowest price, delete MAX.
Then type MIN.
Press Enter.
And here is it.
To return the lowest price of properties just in Rome.
We could add a condition using the WHERE clause, but this time we use the subquery method.
Copy the formula without the equal sign.
Press Escape.
Type =QUERY(
The data come from the first query formula.
Paste the formula.
To return the city name, type: SELECT Col1
To return the lowest price, type: Col2
Using the subquery, we identify the column by typing Col1, Col2 ...etc. We can't use the column letter to identify it.
Type the condition: WHERE Col1=‘Rome’
Type 1 because we have one header.
Press Enter.
And here is it.
That’s it, have fun. Thanks for watching.
