DAY 1: JEDEDIAH SMITH REDWOODS STATE PARK, CA

PART 1: We’ll kick off our journey by hiking THE BOYSCOUT TRAIL in the great Redwood Forest! We’ll follow this 7.7 mile path out-and-back to The Boyscout Tree & then further on down to Fern Falls.

PART 2: As soon as we finish our first trail, we’ll drive a few minutes down the road to hike 1.9 miles out-and-back through THE GROVE OF TITANS!

PART 3: After that, we’ll mosey a little further down the road to STOUT MEMORIAL GROVE where we’ll end our first day with another 1.4 miles of exploration.

DAY 2: PRAIRIE CREEK REDWOODS STATE PARK, CA

PART 4: We’ll begin our day today with a 6 mile hike out on the JAMES IRVINE TRAIL, which will take us to the famous canyon where they filmed Jurassic Park 2!

PART 5: We have now arrived at the 1 mile loop of the famous FERN CANYON! The stream is flowing heavily, but I love great water crossings—even when the water is chilly! Don’t worry, we can warm up on that 6 mile return trip back to the car on the James Irvine Trail.

PART 6: After 13 miles of hiking, we’re not so tired that we can’t enjoy a couple quick roadside stops for a .1 mile jaunt out-and-back to BIG TREE and a .3 mile roundtrip to CORKSCREW TREE and… we’ll take a car ride through DRIVE THRU TREE!

DAY 3: PRAIRIE CREEK REDWOODS STATE PARK, CA

PART 7: Today, we’ll start our morning with a 3.5 mile hike around the loop of TRILLIUM FALLS.

DAY 4: RENO, NV

PART 9: We’re in Reno visiting hubby’s family and what better time than now to explore the 7.5 mile LOWER WHITES CREEK TRAIL, which is literally at their back door—my first desert hike!

DAY 5: LAKE TAHOE, CA

PART 10: Today, we embarking upon a fun out-and-back 2.5 mile hike on EAGLE LAKE TRAIL and I can’t wait to see this show-stopping waterfall!

DAY 6: LAKE TAHOE, NV

PART 11: Today, we return to Lake Tahoe to explore the 2.6 out-and-back hike to MONKEY ROCK TRAIL because monkeys are one of my favorite things!

DAY 7: GALENA REGIONAL FOREST, NV

PART 12: This is it! My first climb up an 8000’ elevation mountain and I am so unbelievably ready for this 10.9 mile loop that is the JONES & WHITES CREEK TRAIL!

DAY 8: BRYCE CANYON, UT

PART 13: We’ve arrived at the famous home of hoodoos and can’t wait to explore this gorgeous red rock canyon! The NAVAJO TRAIL to QUEEN’S GARDEN LOOP is guaranteed to be a breathtakingly scenic 4.7 mile loop.

DAY 9: GRAND CANYON, AZ

PART 14: Today, I’ll be taking on the maximum recommended one-day Grand Canyon hike on the SOUTH KAIBAB TRAIL all the way down to SKELETON POINT. This 6.4 mile, out-and-back excursion is no-doubt going to be a life-changing experience!
