The Evolution of Music Production

This video will explore how Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and new tech have impacted the process of making music. By easing the editing processes in the studio (from cutting physical tape to chopping digital wave files), speeding up the recording of sound (from mixing consoles and DAT to audio interfaces) and opening accessibility to professional sounding software. People are now able to produce hits in their bedrooms, or on the move via their computers. Such advances in technology have inspired 3rd party tech such as VSTs / AUs emulating expensive hardware synthesisers and samplers for generating sound along with compressors, tape machines and all other processing equipment. Furthermore, this video will explore the positive and negative impacts this has had on creativity, the musicians society and the traditional methods of music education.
