In the video, a 3.5-ton forklift attempts to unload two long concrete pipes (each ~1.5 tons) from a truck. The operator positions one pipe on each fork, but the front wheels sink into soft ground, causing the forklift to tip forward. A second forklift tries to rescue by lifting the pipes, but poor coordination leads to the pipes dropping and rolling away. Here’s why this happened and how to avoid it :

Why It Failed:

Unstable Load: The pipes were placed unevenly on the forks (small ends only), shifting the weight too far forward.

Weak Ground: No steel plates were used on the soft soil, allowing the forklift to sink.

Rushed Rescue: The second forklift didn’t fully secure the pipes before the first one withdrew, causing a sudden drop.

How to Do It Safely:

① Single-Load Rule: Carry one pipe at a time. Use straps to secure it centered on the forks.

② Ground Prep: Lay thick steel plates (6+ mm) over soft areas to spread the forklift’s weight.

③ Team Drills: Train operators to communicate clearly during rescues—both forklifts must lift and hold the load together before moving.

Critical Reminder: Always check the forklift’s load chart. A 3.5-ton forklift can’t safely handle long loads at maximum capacity. When lifting awkward shapes, reduce the weight limit by 30-40%.
