Highest Mountain in the Smokies - Kuwohi/Clingmans Dome

Описание к видео Highest Mountain in the Smokies - Kuwohi/Clingmans Dome

It is a mountain with a height of 6,643 ft., the highest mountain in the Smokies. It's the highest spot in Tennessee and the Appalachian Trail. It's second to Mt. Mitchell as the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. Once known as Clingmans Dome, the mountain had its original Cherokee name, Kuwohi (pronounced koo-WOAH-hee) or "mulberry place," restored in September 2024. As part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Kuwohi is famous for its concrete observation tower, which offers visitors a majestic view of the Smokies in all directions. Kuwohi is actually half in North Carolina and half in Tennessee and it is a favored spot for vacationers to this area. The secret to enjoying a trip to Kuwohi is in the preparation for the trek to the observation tower.

Note that this video was created prior to the mountain's name change, which is why it is referred to as Clingmans Dome throughout. We updated the title and description to reflect the restored name.
