The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has attacked the Trinamool Congress (TNC) government, calling the move an irresponsible use of public money and an attempt to bribe Hindus for votes before state elections. The BJP states that the government has reported an inability to pay Dearness Allowance (DA) to its staff, showing misplaced priorities. A BJP representative stated, “This policeman who is standing here is getting 20,000 less.” The TNC, however, claims the grant is essential for supporting the state's cultural fabric and provides livelihoods, fueling the local economy.
