Every permanent marker brand has unique effects when making these make wallet-size paintings on plastic card blanks. Learn which ones I use the most and why.

Permanent markers on inexpensive blank cards, the kind used for printing ID/Credit Cards.
2.25 x 3.3 inches plastic wallet card*
Sharpie - black regular and fine tip
Chartpak - black and blender
Prismacolor - black and blender brush

Method: Layer in background first. Smudge and blend with finger while wet. Pens will remove the ink if you use them in single-direction strokes. When layering light over dark, you must clean the nib after each use or two by rubbing it on a piece of paper. To remove all color and return to the white base of the card, use a blender pen.

If you have layers of perspective overlapping, do the furthest back first and then draw over it to create the next layer, always remembering to clean light-colored pens between strokes.
