Sean Ray, Director of Craft Workforce Development at Sundt Construction, discusses the many exciting benefits of a career in construction, including the friendships and sense of community formed in the industry.

Ray joined the military directly out of high school and served in the United States Navy as a sonar technician. In 1994, he entered the construction industry as a pipefitter’s helper and moved up as journeyman pipefitter, foreman and quality control. He went to the management side of construction in 2003 as a superintendent and has served as construction manager, corporate quality manager and operations manager.  

As a #veteran, Ray recognizes that his military background aligned quite well with the construction industry. The soft skills such as showing up on time, taking direction, good work ethic align between the military and construction. Joining construction, much like joining the military, makes you part of a brotherhood.
