A native of Florida, Gbadebo Odutola attended the University of Florida and received his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and his Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering . “I always wanted to be an engineer since I was a child,” he remembers.

While in college, he founded the hybrid rocket club and interned at NASA and  the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. “I think that experience was a big help as far as getting this position,” he says.  

Gbadebo now works at the Missile Defense Agency in Huntsville, Alabama, defending the Nation, our allies, and our deployed forces against the threat of ballistic missiles.” It is rocket science. It is a lot of rocket science,” he shares.  

He enjoys the unique nature of the work he does at MDA, saying “It’s not something that really you can do any place else in this country without doing it here.”

He recommends exploring internships early in college, beginning in the freshman year, if possible. “A lot of those internships are just looking for people who are interested in learning, and they don’t really care if you’ve taken your first engineering class.”
