My Husband and I stayed at The Millenials (high-end hostels) in Kyoto in April 2018. Since it was high season we paid approx. $100pp/night CAD.

This was our first time staying in a hostel type arrangement - definitely a cool experience! There was free beer everyday from 5:30 - 6:30pm and a simple complimentary breakfast that consisted of bread and coffee.

Also, like all all Japanese hotels, the typical toothbrush (w/ tooth paste), comb, shower cap, razor, hair wrap, cotton swabs and cotton pads were offered in a branded pouch.

As for the adjoining room situation: what made the rooms "adjoining" was the fact that they were directly infront of each other and on the same floor. It was the only way to do it if you wanted to be near the person you are travelling with, otherwise... I noticed many couples were split up amongst the 7 floors and met up in the common area.

Also!!! It's in an amazing location, if not the very best and newest! Close to food, subways and attraction areas!
