During our Alaskan Cruise in 2019 we took a helicopter tour to the Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau. The glacier is approximately 13.6 miles long and a mile wide. The two brown 'racing strips' running down the glacier are the dirt and rocks being removed by the receding ice. Some of those rocks were as large as the helicopter. The tour guide said the glacier moves about 400 feet per year. A helicopter tour of the Mendenhall Glacier is a must see.
