Scarce pre-war German film depicts maritime aviation training. Interception of bombers, dropping bombs and torpedoes, air gunners, and laying a smokescreen to protect a capital ship follow an alert. We added brief labels to identify the aircraft types.

There’s an artistry in the stark shadows, highlights, and angles of view that are reminiscent of German film work like that done by Leni Riefenstahl in the 1930s. This footage was preserved by the U.S. Navy, and does not include original credits.
