MUSIC TEACHER RESOURCES - All 'Round the Brickyard

MUSIC TEACHING TIPS: Follow the leader in a line or circle and take turns making up movements to the song. If students can't think of a name to go with the movement, they can say "move it." It helps to start by having students stand in their spots (not in a line) and copy a bunch of your movements first, and then ask for volunteers to make up movements for the group to do. Then have students get in a line and make up a movement one by one so that everyone gets a turn. Practicing in their places first gives them ideas and gets them thinking creatively before they are put on the spot. Make eye contact or point to the student whose turn it is to remind them. This is quick to teach and students love it. It teaches improvisation through movement and walking to the steady beat. The words are "All 'round the brickyard remember me, I'm gonna ____________ and a-remember me." This is great for kindergarten and first grade (elementary school).
