Dorothy Franey Langkop held 12 out of 14 world records in Speed Skating, won a Bronze medal for the 1000 Meters in the 1932 Lake Placid Winter Olympiics, transformed herself into a Broadway star figure skater and settled her Dot Franey Ice Show at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas from 1943-1957. After retiring from her ice skating career Dorothy won numerous golf championships throughout America including the Mexican National Championship in 1959 at age 46, won the Dallas City Championships 7 times while in her 50s (3 of which were with Mickey Mantle) from 1960 to 1966, established the Texas State Junior Golf Championships in 1961, and elected the 1st and only-to-date female President of the U.S. Olympians in 1981. This is the 4th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament held in her name by the Southwest Olympians benefitting the Olympians Relief Fund nationally. Buffalo Creek Country Club in Rockwall, Texas hosted this event on 10/21/2013.
