Based on true events, the film tells the story of an extraordinary corps of women of color during World War II.
In 1944, World War II entered a critical phase, with major events such as the Normandy landings and the liberation of Paris occurring one after another. However, a huge backlog of letters from American servicemen contacting their families is left unattended in London. Homesickness and the cruelty of war led to the demoralization of a large number of soldiers. The 6888th Women's Battalion, comprised of 855 black women, was called upon to deal not only with the mountains of illegible, illegible, and illegibly addressed mail, but also with the dilapidated conditions of the camp.
Under the leadership of Commander Mary McLeod and others, the women began their grueling work with ingenuity and perseverance.
