David Dacko became the first president of the Independent Central African Republic in 1960. On 1st January 1966, General Bokassa carried out a successful coup d'état against Dacko and he was placed under house arrest, eventually released in 1969 and even became a personal counselor of President Bokassa.

Dacko would end up fleeing to France and cooperating in French operation Barracuda which would remove Bokassa and reinstate Dacko to the presidency in September 1979

Dacko became president twice, he was overthrown by coups twice. Was there a third Attempt?
