Dr.Georgina Drew, in her expert lecture highlighted that during her study in the Himalayan town of Darjeeling, when the community manages the important water sources like springs then the source protection is much better. There is also a system of water pricing in place which allows better management of water. If women have better access to water resources and there is gender equity then brakes can be applied to resource degradation. She emphasized that more research needs to be carried out on involvement of women in the governance process.
