Youghal ('Yawl') is the easternmost town in County Cork, on the estuary of the River Blackwater. Located on the edge of a steep riverbank, the town has a long and narrow layout. It was a holiday resort for generations of Cork people, especially when the railway line was in place (see the links below). Youghal adjoins a number of beaches, including the 5 km (3 mi) beach to the west of the town that leads to Redbarn.
