Dear colleagues, let's face it: if the extreme right is advancing today - in several European countries - it is first and foremost because people are looking for alternatives to traditional politics, those policies brought in by the centre-right and centre-left, which today have made people afraid even to go shopping because it costs too much.

I mean, we must face the social emergency happening in Europe today.

And then the extreme right comes - as we know - saying, 'Well, it's simple : it's all the fault of migrants and refugees and Islamists'.

It claims to defend the workers.
Of course, we know it's a scam because they accept the stability pact that will force Italy to make billions in cuts, or they oppose the minimum wage: a fundamental right for many workers everywhere in Europe, but clearly not in Italy.

To beat this, to beat this demagogy of the new, extreme, right, we must offer a real alternative.

We must say no to the stability pact. Wages must be adjusted to inflation; a decent minimum wage must be introduced - even in Italy, in fact.
And an income should be given to those who have no work.
We need dignity and hope for workers.
