In this video I discuss Buckminster Fuller's "Jitterbug" and show how some of the key transition phases are depicted with sacred geometry drawing techniques. The jitterbug is a cubeoctahedron with flexible vertices, that can be transformed into octahedron by pressing 2 of the triangular faces towards one another. During the transformation the vertices pass through some other notable forms such as the icosahedron, Jensen's Icosahedron, and 12 of the 20 vertices of a dodecahedron. In this presentation I show where each of those forms emerge in the process. I also show how these sacred geometry techniques also depict the transitions of the previously mentioned forms which instead are now based on the principles of tensegrity, which is another contribution Fuller brought froward with his geometric discoveries. I discuss the differences between tensegrity and jitterbug transfromations and show how sacred geometry depicts the transitions. It is fascinating to visualize these 2-d drawings in motion, and I hope this video offers a knew way to connect the templates of sacred geometry to the fascinating discoveries of Buckminster Fuller.
