We set off from Threlkeld to Scales tarn (Blencathra) on a fresh but calm and sunny day , knowing what was to come the following day would be completely different conditions as a snow storm had been forecast ( Storm Bert)

We pitched up at the tarn, expecting (in hope) to get some decent shelter with a relatively simple route down.

Forecast was almost 100% accurate, a good test for our winter kit which passed with flying colours though we probably got down in the nick of time……
