বাংলাদেশের ক্ষমতাচ্যুত প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন, আওয়ামী লীগকে যদি আগামী বছরের জাতীয় নির্বাচনে অংশ নেওয়ার সুযোগ না দেওয়া হয়, তাহলে দলটির লাখো সমর্থক সেই নির্বাচন বয়কট করবে।ভারতের নয়াদিল্লিতে অবস্থানরত শেখ হাসিনা বুধবার বার্তা সংস্থা রয়টার্সকে দেওয়া এক সাক্ষাৎকারে এ মন্তব্য করেন। রয়টার্সের ইমেইলে পাঠানো প্রশ্নের উত্তরে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, “আমার দলকে বাদ দিয়ে কোনো নির্বাচন আমি মেনে নেব না। আওয়ামী লীগ ছাড়া নির্বাচনের অর্থ একতরফা প্রহসন।”তিনি আরও বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগকে বাইরে রেখে অনুষ্ঠিত নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে যেই সরকারই ক্ষমতায় আসুক না কেন, তিনি সেই সরকারের সময়ে দেশে ফিরবেন না এবং আপাতত ভারতেই অবস্থান করবেন।

Bangladesh's ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that if the Awami League is not given a chance to participate in next year's national elections, millions of her supporters will boycott them. Sheikh Hasina, who is in New Delhi, made the comments in an interview with Reuters on Wednesday. In response to questions sent by Reuters via email, Sheikh Hasina said, "I will not accept any election without my party. An election without the Awami League is a one-sided farce." She also said that no matter which government comes to power through elections held without the Awami League, she will not return to the country during that government and will stay in India for the time being.
