The Spanish Peaks are located in south-central Colorado, 30 kilometres (18 miles) southwest of the town of Walsenburg. West Spanish Peak has an elevation of 4,153 metres (13,626 feet) while East Spanish Peak is a bit lower at 3,866 metres (12,683 feet).

I made this recording from Raton Pass on the Colorado/New Mexico state line. My guess is that the peaks are about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from where I was recording on Raton Pass.
