MP Raeesah Khan withdraws allegations that Singapore police mishandled rape case, admits to lying

Workers' Party MP Raeesah Khan admitted in Parliament to lying about accompanying a rape victim to a police station and apologised for alleging that police mishandled the case. "I should not have shared the survivor's anecdote without her consent nor should I have said that I accompanied her to the police station when I had not. It was wrong of me to do so," she said. Addressing the House on Monday (Nov 1), she said she spoke up in Parliament as she was sexually assaulted when she was studying abroad and “did not have the courage to report my own assault”.
