TP Kailasam is the harbinger of neo-Kannada movement in literature and dramas. His language is not about chaste Kannada, but one spoken by people at large. His writings give a thrust to the people in knowing the ills of the society prevailing at the time i.e. about 50 years ago. It is satirical, pungent mixed with humor in typical Kailasam style.
Ammavra Ganda, is a play lampooning the power struggle between the better half and the bitter half! The theme deals with the role of women in the society and tries to bring out the fact that claiming of equal rights by women is not an end by itself. There is equal responsibility that they hold in making their children good citizens, in keeping the family tidy & happy. It's a hilarious drama taking digs at the false notions held by spouses and yet throws light on other obligations of womanhood.
