Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are the second paired Generation VIII games that are enhanced remakes of the fourth-generation titles Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Overall, the game's graphical style is different compared to Pokémon Sword and Shield. The camera returns to a mostly top-down viewing angle similar to the original Diamond and Pearl, while the player and NPCs appear with chibi proportions in the overworld but regular proportions in battle. The regular overworld uses random encounters only, while Pokémon Hideaways in the Grand Underground use symbol encounters.

Like in the originals, the games only include Pokémon from the first four generations; therefore, the games include a total of 493 Pokémon.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are remakes of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl released within Generation 8 for Nintendo Switch in 2021. These games retell the story of the originals with higher fidelity graphics.

These games are to be faithful to the original Pokémon Diamond & Pearl games and feature the same story and features with the latest improvements in gameplay that have come in the Pokémon franchise

These games include a variety of returning features, with new twists such as the Grand Underground, an enhanced version of the Sinnoh Underground which also allows for you to encounter various Pokémon, and the return of Super Contests.
