Kat's almost-full-time job has become dodging the embarrassing tsunami of male attention aimed at her mother Ellie, a social butterfly who bears an uncanny resemblance to film star Marilyn Monroe.

I've said it before, and I'll say is again: Jodi Lea Stewart knows how to tell a great story.

It's so much fun to read her books and to be taken away into the worlds that she creates, mainly because they are not just entertaining but teach us a lot about ourselves and life in general. THE ACCIDENTAL ROAD is no different. We meet a mother and daughter duo who are looking for something better, even though what that looks like might just be in the eye of the beholder. Told in the voice of the daughter Katherine we are able to take a journey with them through what life is, what they want and what might happen on the road there.

And in true Jodi Lea Stewart fashion there is a solid mixture of fun, adventure and even danger in store for the two of them as they try to navigate their way. That is what makes the book so engaging. The reader along with Katherine realize three very important lessons:

1) Beauty isn't everything. And sometimes it can do more harm than good when it comes to those who possess it and those who want to take advantage of it.
2) Nothing ever goes as planned. Even a trip down a road can have bumps and complications that you never saw coming. What matters is how you choose to navigate them.
3) The past is something you can't always outrun. Sometimes you have to confront it. Katherine shares the words of a woman who says you leave the past fast, but sometimes it catches up with you. Then you have to decide if you will allow it to pull you back or fight (sometimes literally) for what's ahead of you.

This is the kind of book you will want to read slow so that you can savor the journey. From beginning to end THE ACCIDENTAL ROAD has all the ingredients of a satisfying read.
