All pet parrots should be bathing regularly whether they do it themselves in their own clean water dishes, run around in a sink, roll themselves against wet greens or hop in a shower... however you allow your pet bird to bathe is up to you but a very common way is through a spray bottle. If your bird has been conditioned that water = punishment (spraying the bird for screaming or misbehaving) the bird will develop a phobia and refuse to get wet. This isn't a good result for the overall care and health of your bird's plumage (feathers). Along with a great diet, regularly exposure to real sunlight and bathing is necessary for captive birds.

In this last part of our in home consult with Scott and Mikal, we show you the beginning stages of conditioning something the bird hates with something it likes (a very high value fruit treat reward in this case!)
