Pokeweed, also known as red ink plant, is an unpleasant-smelling perennial. It has red stems and large leaves that are tinged purple in autumn. From mid-summer it produces spikes of white to pink flowers which later develop into dark maroon berries. This seed germinates slowly over a period of 2 months at room temperature. Sow 2-3 times as much as you need. You can also try soaking the seed in the fridge for 2 weeks. It thrives on hot summers.
