Walking in Jane Austen’s footsteps – A walking tour around the scenic village of Chawton in Hampshire, where Jane spent the final and most productive years of her life as a writer.
Jane Austen is one of England’s greatest writers, her novels are appreciated around the world and frequently adapted for film and tv.

Jane, her sister Cassandra and mother moved to Chawton in 1809, a tranquil Hampshire English village. What was life like for Jane Austen and the Austen ladies while they lived in Chawton? Who were the Austen ladies’ neighbours? What happened to Cassandra and Mrs Austen? I attempt to answer these questions and more during the walk. My film takes you on a walking tour around this delightful English village and will show you the key places to visit, starting at Chawton Great House and passes through Chawton village, walking to the French Horn Inn, visiting Jane Austen’s Cottage on the way. On the way back we walk along Mounters Lane mentioned in her letters. You can use the Jane Austen Chawton Trail map produced by the Alton Chamber of Commerce for reference: http://www.janeaustentrail.org.uk/
