Astigmatism comes under a group of eye problems known as refractive errors. The main reason for Astigmatism is the imperfect curvature of the cornea and lens. The surface should be uniformly spherical and smooth for normal refraction, and any deviation from these properties will cause Astigmatism.

stigmatism is due to the defects in the conduction of light rays in the fluid medium. So, we can say that Vata and Kapha are the main doshas involved in the development of Astigmatism. Any defect in the properties of these doshas leads to Astigmatism. Especially changes in the smoothness and curvature of the cornea.

Like any other anatomical structure of our body, all the refractive media (Cornea, Aqueous Humor, Lens, and Vitreous humor) are made up of living cells. They have their metabolism, catabolism, nutrition, etc. So, defects in these mediums can be corrected by medicine.
