9Round Flower Mound held it’s annual Kick-A-Thon Wednesday benefiting the non-profit Cleaning For A Reason.

The idea was every person who worked out would have nine rounds of three-minute workouts that involved kicking, and for every kick, the gym would pay a penny to Cleaning For A Reason.

The non-profit organization offers free house cleaning services to cancer patients.

“It’s hard because after you’ve done thirty minutes straight of kicking it’s like, whoa!” said Brian Taylor, Owner of 9Round Flower Mound.

Stacey Schwinghammer is a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010, and during her treatments, she joined Cleaning For A Reason.

“I’ve had three occurrences and during that time you are going through cancer treatments, chemo, and you’re very weak,” said Schwinghammer.

A weakness that soon became a strength when she started working out with 9Round, an outlet she said gave her another reason to keep kicking and encourage others.

Taylor said his gym raised more than $1,000 for Cleaning For A Reason during last years Kick-A-Thon, a service Schwinghammer also benefitted from while she was a patient.

“Overwhelmed. Just trying to get to the next day, trying to get to the afternoon. Your home is clean, it smells good.” said Schwinghammer.

Since 2006 the non-profit has helped more than 30,000 women across the nation.
