Coaster Survivor 2003: 24. BONUS - Sky Whirl 1976-2000

Sky Whirl was a unique triple arm ferris wheel that operated at Six Flags Great America from 1976-2000. It was replaced by the Deja Vu roller coaster (2001-2007) and its former location is currently occupied by Buccaneer Battle, an interactive water ride. The area has never been the same without the whirring sound that Sky Whirl used to make as it towered over the food court.

The on ride footage was filmed in October 1999 during Fright Fest, which is why there are several Halloween decorations in the cabins. The footage with the beginning of it being dismantled was filmed in October 2000 shortly after it closed for good. Sky Whirl was a great ride to get a nice rest of and a great view of the park. The ride also lasted between 12-15 minutes!
