Cam #1 Stolen - Culprit Caught on Video

In the quiet, moonlit desert, a daring heist unfolded at precisely 1:22 AM. Under the cover of darkness, one of my critter trail cameras, Camera #1, was stolen. The perpetrator was caught on all four of my cameras, leaving a trail of clues. Just who, or what, could have pulled off such a brazen act? Let’s unravel the mystery.

As the sun peeked over the Catalina Foothills, I went about my usual routine, going to check the SD memory cards on my four trail cameras stationed at the two water ponds. I always scan the ground, ever cautious of rattlesnakes, and survey the surrounding area for any javelinas that might be protective of their young. All seemed as it should be—until I reached Camera #1's post. The camera was gone.

A quick search of the area led me to the missing camera, about 50 feet away from its original position. As walked up to it, it looked intact, but the tripod told a different story. The rubber coating on its legs was chewed up and torn apart, as if someone—or something—had tried to dismantle it. Thankfully, the other three cameras were still in place, and they had captured the entire ordeal. Come to find out so did Cam #1. It actually recorded it’s own abduction.

The various video footage reveals a tantalizing sequence of events. Camera #2 and Camera #4 captured the infrared motion sensor on Camera #1 lighting up, just before it was whisked away. In an almost surreal scene, the camera documented its own journey through the desert as it was carried off, creating a disorienting first-person perspective of the crime.

While Camera #3’s footage was mostly redundant, the video from Cam #4 provided a crucial angle, confirming what I suspected. The perpetrator’s identity was now clear. But I’ll leave it to you to watch the video and discover who the thief was that dared to steal Camera #1.
