When I was 7, I decided I wanted to be a doctor. However, as time wore on and I got diagnosed with progressively more severe mental illnesses, I became disabled and unable to achieve that dream. This video is about what happened after that, a life beyond losing a dream, a big one. And I think this is important for anyone with a mental illness to know: that it’s okay if you have to give up your dreams.

If you’re new here, my name is Kit and I’m diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, which is a condition where someone experiences symptoms of schizophrenia, such as delusions and hallucinations, but also symptoms of mood disorder, either major depression, or my case bipolar.

It’s that schizoaffective disorder that kept me from my dream, but it was not the end, just a new—albeit messed up—beginning.
