How A Dehumidifier Can Combat Mold & Damp

In this video, we discuss how a dehumidifier can help with mold and damp. Mold thrives in damp conditions, typically when the humidity in a room is above 60 percent. The ideal humidity in a home or workplace is between 30 and 50 percent. By maintaining a lower humidity you can reduce the chance of damp or mold problems and this will also discourage pests such as dust mites or cockroaches.

Mold can be caused by many factors such as a leaky gutter, structural problem, etc. Damp problems are common and in fact, every house that I have lived in has had some issue with mold or another and not dealing with it appropriately could ruin your furniture and cause it to spread even more. It's not good for your health, and can also cause breathing difficulties. We had severe mold in a temporary accommodation flat supplied by the council when we had a newborn baby.

Luckily there are a few things that you can do to combat mold and damp. The first thing is to simply open the window regularly, this will allow air to circulate and will help to control the humidity. Secondly, move furniture away from the wall so that more air can circulate easier. Finally, a dehumidifier is a wonderful tool that should be used in every household. It can control the humidity of the room by removing moisture from the air. This prevents the spread of fungus.
