Mombasa Grass and Mulato 2 Comparison

MOMBASA GRASS - is an African grass from Tanzania and named after the city of Mombasa in Kenya. It is a very fast-growing grass, and about 2-4x fast-growing compared to Mulato II, Napier and other grass. No other weed or grass have outgrown Mombasa grass on our farm, thus making it a good weed suppressant.

MULATO II GRASS - is a three-way Brachiaria hybrid (Brachiaria ruziziensis × Brachiaria decumbens × Brachiaria brizantha). Mulato II is the result of three generations of crosses and screening carried out by CIAT’s tropical forages project in 2004.

It took us 6months of research on pasture improvement before we found out about this grass. We wanted a crop suitable for rapid rotational grazing similar to Johnson grass of continental US.
